Vermair colours to debut!
Dec 12, 2014
We are extremely excited to see the debut of the Vermair Racing silks at Te Rapa on Saturday when Opie Bosson gets legged aboard the trial winning 2yo colt - Lorde Royals.
He was a Paul Morony Bloodstock purchase and is trained by the Morony/Ormsby team in Matamata. Being by Postponed, he will be better as a 3yo but he has shown enough to try and sneak him into the Karaka Million field. Lorde Royals is a half brother to the talented Burnt Orange who showed plenty before being sold to Hong Kong for big money.
The line up he meets on Saturday is very strong field as you would expect for a $30,000 purse. Rocanto looks the biggest danger, he trialled same day as Lorde Royals and ran about 10lengths faster. In saying that, they went fast the whole trail where as in Lorde Royals trial they walked in front, they swooped around and headed him on the bend but Opie just loosened the reigns and he went past them again to run through the line comfortably in front.
Apart from Rocanto who beat the talented Windbourne at his first trial, there is also the Stephen McKee trained filly who debuted in the Listed Wellesly Stakes and Halleloojah who has a win and a second from his 2 starts. There are many chances in the race and we would be happy with a top 3 finish. He has drawn awkwardly but thats why we have the best on top!
